Community
Okeechobee County has eight public education institutions consisting of five elementary schools, two middle schools, and one high school divided between two campuses. In addition, Okeechobee has four private schools available for students through eighth grade, but only one of these private schools also serves high school students–Okeechobee Christian Academy.
School
Okeechobee Christian Academy (OCA) is an interdenominational school that exists to serve all in the Okeechobee area by providing an education that is Christ-centered, Bible-based, and academically distinguished.
Okeechobee Christian Academy began as Grace Christian Schools, a ministry of the Grace Brethren Church of Okeechobee in August of 1976 with a student body of eighteen. The school has advanced considerably from its humble beginning of three grades and two teachers. We now have programs from K5 to 12th grade and students participating in dual enrollment at Indian River State College.
Accreditation
Florida Coalition of Christian Private School Accreditation (FCCPSA) since 2011, AdvancEd (now Cognia) since 2015.

Affiliations
Association of Christian Schools International (ACSI), since 1979; Florida Department of Education (FDOE), since the 2011-2012 school year.
Calendar
36 weeks; 4 grading periods. The policy is consistent with the Florida Board of Education Rule 6A-1.045111 of at least 180 actual school days and not less than 720 net instructional hours for students in kindergarten through grade three, and not less than 900 instructional hours for students in grades four through twelve.
Admissions
The admissions process is designed to ensure a student’s readiness and potential for having a successful and rewarding experience at Okeechobee Christian Academy and to determine proper academic placement. It also plays a valuable role in confirming compatibility in Christian values, philosophy, and essential beliefs between the Christian home and school. The admissions process includes an interview with prospective parents, a review of previous school performance, and admissions testing.

Grade Point Average, GPA Calculation, and Graduation Requirements
GPA is computed using quality points for any high school level course taken. All subjects, whether passed or failed, are included in the computation. Honors and Dual Enrollment classes are weighted by one point. Grades are recorded and GPA is recalculated after any course is posted on the transcript. Course and Grade promotions require a C-average or higher. A minimum of 24 credits is required for graduation. In addition, each student must complete 100 hours of community service.
